FAQ

Our Most Frequently Asked Questions - Answered!

Adoption Fees & Requirements

  • Fee: The adoption fee for our precious dogs is $400 for adult dogs and $500 for dogs under one year. If adopting an intact dog from NWH, an additional refundable deposit of $300 is required with the adoption fee. We require the dogs to be fixed by 18 months of age or within 60 days of adoption. Acceptable sterilization methods include spay, neuter, vasectomy, surgical ligation or ovary sparing spay.

  • Training: We strongly believe in giving dogs the best chance at a new life and training is a must. Thus, we require proof of at least one pre-paid training session with an approved trainer (Petco does not qualify). There will be exceptions and we will work with each adopter to ensure the best possible outcome for their new companion!

  • Working Home: We also believe that some of our dogs will need to do actual work. Thus, when appropriate, we allow placement in a working home through a department or individual owner. This will depend both on the dog and handler.

Transport Availability

Adopters have to make an effort to come at least most of the way to pick up their adopted dog. We may have volunteers able to assist, but please expect to pick up your dog from the foster location or organize and pay for transport and required documentation. Dogs are mainly located on the west coast until the rescue expands. However, we welcome adopters from across the country if they are willing to make the trek to get their new pup!

CANADA: We do adopt out to Canadian applicants. However, it is their responsibility to research current import regulations! We also ask that Canadian applicants must cross the boarder or otherwise organize and pay for transport and required documentation of their new dog.
